For all those who may not know, I have moved back to Salt Lake City, Utah, and have joined Backcountry.com, an ecommerce company specialising in outdoor gear, specifically high-end gear. I am working as the CTO, and am happily reunited with some old friends from BackInTheDay.

Do I get free stuff? Once in a while. Do I get stuff at a discount? Sure thing! Do you want some stuff at a discount? Well then drop me a note (see email address at the bottom of this page) and I will send you a code that will give you a pretty good deal on anything we sell.

    Dave,

Hey, I I just read something about backcountry.com on the egoventures blog and decided to look it up — it turns out that it’s in Utah! Well, I moved to Utah a year and am excited that a company this respected is here.

Cheers to you and the team. I came from Amazon and am always impressed with click-to-ship companies that are on the ball like backcountry is. Nice work.

Since I’m in Utah, we ought to do lunch sometime. You have my email and blog url now.

    Cheers.

Hey Dave. Long time no see. Dave Boyce just called me to tell me about Scott Swaner. So today I’m reminiscing and tracking down old friends from that era. Reply with contact info so I can call you. Bob

Dave – good move. As I have commented in my blog, the service you guys provide is phenomenal. My office is a block from the REI Flagship in Denver, and I often choose to shop through Backcountry anyway. I have read quite a bit about the open source back-end you guys use. Sounds like you have your hands full. Good news is that it seems to work. BTW – if you still want to float me a discount code, I would not stand in your way. Good luck with your venture!

  4. Dave Jenkins,

I saw that you posted a job on linked in for ERP applications development there at Backcountry.com.

I have worked as a CRM analyst for the sales and marketing departments of Continental airlines. I am looking at moving back to Utah.

Are you going to be hiring CRM people to analyse the data and prepare marketing/sales info based on it any time soon?

  5. Dave,

I am thrying to figure the best way to hook up our web site with yours:
    http://www.envisionogden.org/index.html

WE are not set up to advertise yet and our blog is not up yet either. But somehow we want to pay tribute, from Ogden Utah..aka THE HUB…to what a great job backbountry.com is doing.

I cannot ask to have you listed in the OGDEN LINKS part of the home page (right side bar). And since backcountry.com choose West Valley / SLC and Park City to set up in, it is hard to put backcountry.com on as content in one of the …yet to be designed…. subsection pages.

But clearly you are a bright guy. So let me know what you think. Check out
    http://www.envisionogden.org/index.html

and send me a link to some published article on the backcountry.com story, and into what part of our site you think it would work. Once the blog part gets up, it is a no brainer..linking to backcountry.com
